Technical Information
The Portraits of a City Web resource was built using
the following resources and image capture tools:
Photoshop CS
Dreamweaver MX
Textpad
Microsoft Access
Microsoft Word
Zoomify
Negatives are primarily scanned using an Epson Expression 1640 XL flatbed scanner, with transparency adapter.
- SilverFast Ai or Epson_Twain is used to scan the images into PhotoShop 5.5 or PhotoshopCS.
- 3000-line, uncompressed TIFF (.tif) files are generated from the source negatives.
- No altering of the images occurred with the exception of straightening and rotating images.
- Each image (physical and digital) was given a unique identifier based on the repository, the collection number, series and the sequence in which it was scanned.
For example: AC0618.004.0000341 |

AC0618. |
