Franklin, John Hope, 1915-

 

John Hope Franklin is a graduate of Fisk University and holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University. A distinguished historian, he has taught at Fisk University, St. Augustine’s College, North Carolina Central University, Howard University, and Brooklyn College. He served as chair of the history department at the University of Chicago and is currently a professor at Duke University. In addition to his academic work, Franklin has served on several national commissions and delegations, including the National Commission on the Humanities.
