| To the surface of this presidential inaugural medal, Saint-Gaudens brought a lettering style influenced by the Beaux Art graphic movement which tended to group (or arrange) and block letters for stronger visual effect. This type of lettering was later used on the Saint-Gaudens twenty dollar design.
