Object 9 [of 66] – Salamander

 

This salamander hung from the hood above Julia's Garland range. Used as a hand-held broiler, the metal disk is heated on a burner, then held over something to brown it. While Julia could have used a salamander to brown the top of creeme brulee, she much preferred using her blow torch for that purpose.
