Original construction:
31-foot brick tower

1836: new keeper's house replaced original damaged by fire
1883 - 1888: light moved to tall mast to improve visibility
1926: replaced by taller steel skeleton tower, itself demolished in 1954

electrified in 1914; demolished in 1926

in 1985 a replica of the lighthouse based on original plans in the National Archives was built in the area
