General History

The subject matter for movies became part of the war effort. Edward G. Robinson starred in “Mr Winkle Goes to War.” The film portrays a henpecked, and weakwilled husband who is accepted into the army. Once he is fighting, he demonstrates a level of courage and competence which is a shock to everyone who knows him. From an engagement with the enemy, he emerges as a hero.
