General History

In an effort to support the war, the government issued “War Bonds,” savings bonds whose purchase went to the war effort. So that buying bonds wouldn’t be such a burden, stamp books were created. Each week a stamp was purchased for a small amount, like 10 cents. When you accumulated enough stamps and your booklet was full, you received a bond.
