This view shows new houses on Valley Street (now Valley Place) in Griswold's subdivision in the District of Columbia. Griswold's was laid out for the real-estate speculator H.A. Griswold in 1881 (with revisions in 1886 and 1894) on property he owned immediately adjacent to the earlier subdivision of Uniontown (Anacostia).
