During the summer of 1948, Pete Koltnow spent several weeks hitchhiking and riding buses across the country, taking photographs along the way. This mile marker in Bristow, Oklahoma was a meeting point for hitchhikers trying to catch a ride. It shows the distances to possible destinations.
