Part of a series of books written for girls by Katherine Stokes. Other titles include The Motor Maids in Fair Japan, published in 1913, and The Motor Maids at Sunrise Camp, published in 1914.

Auto-related children's book series began to appear in the 1900s. In these moralistic stories, affluent good boys and girls had adventures with their cars. While the characters in these early tales tended to follow conventional gender roles, the Motor Maids were both drivers and mechanics.
