Black and white tinted print. One of eight scenes, bound together with a title page and introduction. They are based on George Cruikshank's "The Bottle," a series showing the progressive degeneration of a family due to the evils of drinking. Interior scene of a man, a woman, and three children. The father sits despondently next to the fire while the daughter hands a new bottle to the mother. The cat walks across the table that is now pushed against the wall. Two younger children huddle together on a small table or footstool.
