Description:

Black and white print of street scene where firemen gather to extinguish a blaze at a building labeled "Willie, Nichols, Howe, Timpson, Lee & Co." Martin Van Buren, in top hat, is referred to as the fire chief. Some of the firemen have symbols of trade on the backs of their coats: a trowel, a mortar & pestle labeled "Drugs," a turtle, a wheel, railroad tracks, etc. One man is running and carrying a can of what appears to be brushes. The spectators in the street are male, wear coats and top hats, and from the dialog they appear to be job hunters. Additional dialog and phrases appear on the print.
