Description:

Black and white print of an elaborate wooden bookshelf with a smiling black man's face on each of the top corners and a bottle labeled "bourbon" in the center. The shelf contains 13 books, each title representing a scandal from the Grant Administration. Panels below indicate further corruption. At the base of the bookshelf are five men on their knees and one hand, with their backs supporting the bookshelf, and labels on their rears. Additional phrases appear on the print including a phrase at the base of the bookshelf indicating the Midwestern interest in the verbal attack by Ignatius Donnelly, Congressman from Minnesota on the character of Elihu Washburne, Congressman from Illinois in May 1868.
