Chromolithographed print (proof before letters) of scene depicting frontier justice. Scene depicts twenty men and two boys in a cabin conducting a trial. The horse thief, Joe Hickman, stands in the center, leaning against a crate. He is wearing an overcoat, tall boots, is heavily bearded, and his left arm is bandaged. He is facing several men on his left. One man, seated at his left is holding handcuffs and another is taking notes. Furnishings include barrels and crates, animal skins, saddles, a kerosene lamp, miscellaneous tools, dishes, and food. Antlers hang above a window on the left side and pictures hang on the wall in the background.
