One Flag Iris print and offset lithograph
Description: These two versions of a print by Neil Farkas depict a large flag draped across a department store.

Context: Many images took on new meaning after September 11. This print by Neil Farkas depicts a huge flag draped across the J. L. Hudson department store in Detroit. Based on a photograph taken on Flag Day, June 14, 1963, it includes a busy scene with people and street life evocative of the artistís boyhood memories there. Completed on September 10, 2001, it was decided that the sale of editions of the print through the Liebig Museum in Florida would benefit the victims of the September 11 attacks. The Graphic Arts collection of the National Museum of American History acquired two formats, a fine-art Iris print and an offset example.
