Mask and gloves from Pentagon rescue
Description: Donn Marshall wore this particle mask and pair of latex gloves during the rescue efforts at the Pentagon directly following the September 11 attack.

Context: Hearing news of the attack, Donn Marshall rushed to the Pentagon from his nearby work site in search of his family. His wife Shelley was a civilian employee, and his two small children attended the Pentagon daycare center. After locating his children and removing them to a safe location, he returned to assist as a stretcher-bearer at the crash site. His wife’s office was directly in the path of the aircraft, and she was killed.
