"...there were really no large objects recovered..."
As you probably know, there were really no large objects recovered from the World Trade Center debris field. Many of the objects were badly twisted and destroyed. The largest surviving things are the steel and metal objects.

But a few real treasured objects survived, such as a stairwell marker, some floor markers, a doll from a gift shop, a ticket from the observation area, a fire warden's whistle, a fire warden's badge--very sort of ordinary objects, but yet simply extraordinary in that they survived and were recovered.
