We think of photographs as objects, not just as graphics, illustrations for exhibitions, but as individual objects collected for their own significance, whether it be for the process, whether it be for who took the image, the photographer that took the image, or reference materials that support equipment in the collection.
The imagery of September 11 is so powerful. The visual nature of that day is important historically. Whether we watched the planes hitting the building, which some of us did, watched the collapse happen in disbelief…watching it live. Photography is how we all remember that day.
