Pink silk covered with black net; BODICE-front opening; inset net yoke at front, with embroidery and sequins; high stand lace collar over foundation, trimmed with sequins, embroidery and chiffon, attached to bodice yoke; lapels near yoke of black satin embroidered with flowers and trimmed with steel beads and lace; slight dip at front waist; black silk belt, pleated, sewn to bodice which gives cummerbund effect; yoke on back bodice of black fabric trimmed with steel beads and embroidery; streamers hang from center back waist; upper sleeves of pink silk covered with net, with lace and embroidery; lower portion of sleeve of white net over pink silk with black embroidery; bodice additionally lined with pink silk; all seams boned and hand finished; inner waistband; SKIRT-fitted over hips through seaming and darts at waist; inner gauged panel of pink silk at inside back to create some back fullness; trained; lower portion trimmed with black velvet; silk dust ruffle with additional layers of pink chiffon at hem.

We have no background information about who wore this dress. We believe it might have been worn by one of the donors, Mrs. Allen. It was exhibited in the Hall of American Costume from 1964 to 1973.
