Latitude: 32 deg 9 min 52 sec N
Longitude: 80 deg 44 min 24 sec W
Height above sea level: 136 feet

Original construction:
tower built by Union soldiers

Rebuilds:
1880: present 94-foot pyramidal skeleton-cast-iron structure with central cylinder enclosing stairway
1884: front range light replaced by mobile light to respond to shifts in channel location.
1985: acquired and restored by private development company

Status:
1932: deactivated; restored tower illuminated with sodium vapor lamp as tourist attraction
