Original construction:
Black lantern on white dwelling 36 feet high; bridge to shore

Rebuilds:
1939: replaced by 45-foot 1873 cast-iron lighthouse moved from Ipswich, MA

Status:
automated in 1939; converted to solar power in 1990; active aid to navigation

Light characteristic:
flashing red every 6 seconds, visible for 5 nautical miles
