Original construction:
A white brick tower 20 feet high, attached to keeper's house by covered walkway

Rebuilds:
1883: light atop 100-foot guyed mast to replace light obscured by adjacent buildings
1896: 105-foot skeleton tower; brown to gallery, black above; elevated walk to dwelling

Status:
automated in 1960; active aid to navigation

Light characteristic:
fixed green visible for 7 nautical miles
