Year established: 1855
Latitude: 43 deg 39 min 19 sec N
Longitude: 70 deg 14 min 5 sec W
Height above sea level: 30 feet

Original construction:
small octagonal wooden tower

Rebuilds:
1875: 13-foot brick-lined, cast iron tower at the end of the extended breakwater; called the "Bug Light" by locals

Status:
Automated in 1934; extinguished in 1942 during World War II, never re-lit

Notes:
The Portland Breakwater Light Station, called the "Bug Light" by locals, is managed by the City of South Portland.
