Longitude: 66 deg 57 min 1 sec W
Height above sea level: 83 feet

Original construction:
rubblestone tower

Rebuilds:
1858: present 49-foot brick tower, red and white horizontal stripes

Status:
Stands on the easternmost point of the U.S. mainland; active aid to navigation

Light characteristic:
White flash twice every 15 seconds, visible from 18 nautical miles; fog signal, 2 blasts every 30 seconds

Notes:
The red and white horizontal stripes were added shortly after the present tower was built. The only other light in the U.S. with those stripes is the Assateague, VA Light.
