Original construction:
1831: 48-foot stone tower

Rebuilds:
1872: present 50-foot granite tower; old tower shortened to serve as fog signal house

Status:
Automated in 1963; active aid to navigation scheduled for conversion to solar power in 2003

Light characteristic:
2 white flashes every 10 seconds visible for 24 nautical miles; fog signal 2 blasts every 30 seconds
