Original construction:
brick tower on north spit of Umpqua River

Rebuilds:
1894: current 61-foot conical masonry lighthouse built on 100 foot ridge after original was undermined by river flow in 1861

Status:
automated in 1966, active aid to navigation

Light characteristic:
alternating 2 white flashes and 1 red flash every 15 seconds, the white visible for 21 nautical miles, the red visible for 20 nautical miles
