Catalogue number:
PH*330320

Inscriptions:
"DOLLOND / LONDON"

Dimensions:
aperture 1 inch; length 10 to 25 inches

Discussion:
This is a very early achromatic telescope, of the form that Dollond was making in the 1750s and early 1760s. The flint lens of the objective is on the outside, and the erecting eye piece has five elements. The draw tubes are pasteboard with brass ferules; the outer one is covered with green shagreen.
