Star Finder

Catalogue number:
2003.0331.02

Inscriptions:
"Rabl Star Finder, CORNELL MARITIME PRESS"

Discussion:
This has two parts. The Star Almanac indicates the positions of 55 bright stars relative to a local meridian at different hours of the night throughout the year. The Star Graph indicates the altitude and azimuth of these stars as seen from different latitudes.

Samuel Supplee Rab wrote several books on astronomy and on boat building. The Cornell Maritime Press was established in 1938, to produce educational materials for the new Merchant Marine Academy. It published the Rabl Star Finder between 1966 and 1979.
