Discussion:
This log is made of brass, with an image of a dolphin and the words "TRY ME" on each of the four blades of the rotator. The ceramic plate holds three dials: one reads to quarter miles, one reads miles to 10, and one reads miles to 100. S. Thaxter & Sons of Boston donated it to the Smithsonian in 1883.
