CONTEXT
Mary Tsukamoto was 27 years old in the spring of 1942. A long-time resident of Florin, California, near Sacramento, she was active in community affairs and in the local chapter of the Japanese American Citiznes League (JACL). Mrs. Tsukamoto, her husband, daughter, and in-laws were sent to the camp at Jerome, Arkansas. After retiring from teaching, Mrs. Tsukamoto worked to preserve images and memories from the internment period, and the Japanese American experience as a whole. Mary Tsukamoto died in 1998.
