Set of Dog Tags belonging to Lyn Crost

Lyn Crost, War Correspondent for Honolulu Star Bulletin wore these dogs tags while following the 100th Battalion and 442nd RCT across Europe.

Lyn Crost Stern, a war correspondent for the Honolulu Star Bulletin, took a special interest in the men of the 100th Infantry Battalion/442d Regimental Combat Team. Her articles focused special attention on the unit and the outstanding Nisei combat record. Her dispatches from the front, and those of other war correspondents, including the famous Ernie Pyle, underscored the courage and sacrifice of the men who fought for their nation while family and friends remained behind barbed wire.
In 1994 she published Honor by fire: Japanese Americans at War in Europe and the Pacific, the story of the Nisei soldiers.
She died in April 1997, and was buried with her dog tags.
