Discussion:
Stackpole & Brother made this instrument, probably in the mid 1870s. The horizontal circle is silvered, graduated to 20 minutes of arc, and read by opposite verniers to single minutes. There is a hanging level, and a clamp and tangent screw on the horizontal axis.
